CHAMPAIGN, Ill (WCCU/WICS/WRSP) - The University of Illinois could start the 2020-21 college basketball season inside the top ten of the national rankings.

The national recognition has risen expectations in Champaign. As Brad Underwood enters his fourth season as the head coach of the Fighting Illini, the standard has been set. As the expectations have risen, so must the consistency.

"We've got to try to pick up where we left off last year," said Illinois head coach Brad Underwood. "That's where we want to start. That's a goal. We've got to do that every night. "

We cannot have the ups and downs that a young team had last year.

"We got better at that late in the season, and that's the next growth pattern for us. To stay a top ten team every year, you've got to do those things. That's what we're working towards everyday."
