We have the following community support activities at our event:
1. We are happy to honor our veterans by donating the funds to send at least one veteran, possibly 2, on the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight this fall. A portion of all of our admission proceeds between now and October 1st will be donated to pay for the entire amount of flight expenses.
2. We also are collecting food supplies for the Menard County Food Pantry and anyone bringing donations gets in a drawing for a bazaar T-shirt.
3. The APL Mobile van will also be on-sight for pet adoptions.

Wednesday Afternoon at the Movies (2:00pm, Westville Public Library, 233 S State, WESTVILLE)
The next Wednesday Afternoon at the Movies hosted by the Westville Public Library will be September 6 at 2 PM. The feature will be about a daring rescue attempt by the Coast Guard off the coast of Cape Cod after a pair of oil tankers are destroyed during a blizzard in 1952. This film is based on a true story. Please call the library at 267-3170 to reserve your seat for this historical thriller of a film.

2nd Annual Friends of the Market Street Dinner (6:00pm; SPRINGFIELD
) Downtown Springfield Inc. (DSI) will host the 2nd Annual Friends of the Market Street Dinner benefiting the Old Capitol Farmers Market under the fall constellations at community tables placed on the Old State Capitol Plaza. Local chefs from Long Nine Junction, Cooper’s Streatside Bistro, Five Flavors/Tacology and Copper Pot Cooking Studio, all skilled in farm-to-table cuisine, will pair with vendors from the Market to prepare four wonderful courses, paired with The Wine Group wines. From the live music and centerpieces to the food on the plate, the event will celebrate all things about the market.
Proceeds offset the costs of managing and promoting the Old Capitol Farmers Market, which has been welcoming 2500-4000 people to downtown each Saturday of this season. The Market is managed by Illinois Stewardship Alliance on behalf of Downtown Springfield Inc., and the partnership has resulted in new programs such as Family Fitness, weekly Chef Demonstrations and live music programmed by Springfield Area Arts Council. The dinner will begin at 6:00 p.m. and 200 seats are available. Tickets are $75 and can purchased online at downtownspringfield.org or by calling (217) 544-1723. Bank of Springfield is sponsoring the dinner.

4th Annual Farm Crawl (10:00am - 5:00pm; CLINTON)
The 4th Annual Farm Crawl connects families with local family farms in DeWitt county, Illinois. Enjoy a leisurely autumn day "crawling" to each farm (okay, you don't actually crawl, just a short drive between farms). The farms will open their doors to the public on Sunday, September 10 from 10:00 am-5:00 pm. In addition to demonstrations and fun activities, each farm will sell their products during the event to increase the economic viability of local, family farms! You can start at either farm and spend as much time as you like and work your way through them, but expect to spend 30-60 minutes at each farm (plus a 10 minute drive time between farm). You will receive a unique experience at each farm. This is a farmer organized event -- each farm designs its activities and you will learn more about that farm's operations.
The tours and on the farm activities are free and open to families. Local school clubs and organizations will be selling a variety of homemade goods, sandwiches, fresh cooked sweet corn, and more!

The 8th Annual CU Pride and Parade (CHAMPAIGN-URBANA)
UP Center of Champaign County will present festivities startngon Friday with a special CU Comedy Fundraiser at Soma Ultralounge. Headliners include Chicago based comedian and actor Shannon Noll and Whitney Chitwood whose been featured by MoveOn.Org and OUT Chicago. The UP Center kicks off Saturday festivities with our FREE Family Friendly Area sponsored by Chambanamoms.com and Pride Vendors at noon. This will be located in the city parking lot located at Hill & Neil Streets. This Family Friendly Area will open at 12PM and run until 6PM. Attendees will be able to peruse vendor booths and families will love all the offerings including free bounce houses, carnival style games and The Scovill Zoo Mobile Petting Zoo. New this year live performances in the Family Friendly Zone from Belly Dancing Troupes, Drag Queens, Puppeteers, Theatre Companies and Live Musicians!

The 2017 Pride Parade will step off at 4PM in Downtown Champaign. The parade will start at the corner of Main & Walnut and will proceed south on Walnut, turning west on Chester Street before turning north on Neil Street and proceeding to Washington Street where the parade will turn east and come to an end.

Also back this year, Drag Brunch with Dish Passionate Cuisine at City View located above the Illinois Terminal on Sunday September 17th at 11AM. Those who attend Drag Brunch will enjoy a full breakfast and bottomless mimosas along with a great show from local and national drag queens, some of which have been featured on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Come experience a maze of cardboard that you won't believe! An entire gymnasium, a cardboard work of art that you will literally get inside of! Full of ups, downs, twists, turns, slides, dead ends! There are three ways to make it out.....find your path and collect information along the way and get a surprise at the finish.
Navigate through this maze in the dark with glow sticks! Get an event dog tag at the finish...... refreshments provided. This is an all ages event (adults you can even do this with your little ones)! $3 includes entry/glow stick and dog tag! $5 unlimited entry into the maze

Pygmalion Festival (Champaign-Urbana)

PYGMALION 2017 is the culmination of five years of expansion into four new components, including TECH, LITERATURE, FOOD, and a CRAFT FAIR, simply referred to as The Made Fest. Memorial Transplant Services holds a 5K Run/Walk in September to raise funds to benefit our transplant funds which:

• Assist patients with transportation expenses related to doctor visits

• Help provide lodging for patients and their family members during pre-transplant workup, the period immediately following transplant surgery and during periods of treatment for rejection

• Pay for prescription medication costs and/or co-pays

• Support program development as well as education for patients and staff

This event is a wonderful opportunity for patients and donor families to come together and share their stories. The 49th annual Apple ‘n Pork Festival (9:00am - 5:00pm; C.H. Moore Homestead DeWitt County Museum, CLINTON)
The festival, which began with a pot of soup and a stack of sandwiches, has grown to be one of downstate Illinois’ most popular festivals. Today, the festival offers more than 25 booths featuring numerous types of old-fashioned, harvest-time apple and pork foods; tours of the home of Abraham Lincoln’s law partner and personal friend, C.H. Moore; a juried art show; large flea market; demonstrating craftsmen offering their items for sale; an antique tractor and farm equipment exhibit; meal grinding, rope making, chair caning and blacksmithing demonstrations; live musical entertainment; pony rides; tomahawk throwing; Pigs on Parade contest and much more.
